WGCE students are constantly encouraged to be compassionate. Members of the community Activities that foster a lifelong commitment to community service. This is a part of the outreach programmes.


The stars scheme offers 100% free admission to one student who secure the National Level rank or physically handicapped children in rural areas of Assam.


West Guwahati College of Education School development program under a number of programm are committed to develop the infrastructure in schools near by a school named ‘Suklai Gyanjyoti Project’ in BTAD area is taken by a model school by West Guwahati College of Education.


Students are engaged in handling classes for the inmates of orphanages, govt. school children and the under-privileged. Innovative teaching methods using state of the art technology in the adopted schools. Students involve themselves in various projects and contributes for social development.


The College has a Research & Development wing in collaboration with Indian Institute of Research and Development for Differently (lRDDA) Abled is a Charitable Trust under the provisions of the Indian Trust Act for research and development on educational and rehabilitation purposes of the common people of India, specially to protect the rights and privileges of the people under the PWD Act. The College has taken an initiative step to do work with this organization –

  • to organize national seminars in some selected colleges,
  • to Instituting a cultural band with homeless and differently able persons in the Nalbari and Barpeta Districts and
  • to establish of a school namely, “Mrinalini Vidyapeeth” meant for the students of differently able at Kaleswar Dham, G.u. Campus.


WGCE has planned to organize a Blood Donation Camp every year for treatment of cancer patient. A special doctor and competent nurse is appointed by the College Authority to check the heath of the students and the local community.

Abmika Devi a student ofT.D.C. 1st. Yr. ofPragjyotish College is benefited by the college for pursuing higher education. WGCE is proud to state that the learner’s academic responsibilities lies on due shoulders of the college.


Krishna kanta Handique State open University Study Centre is Instituted in West guwahati guwahati college of education (refer to C. Foundational Perspective Para 6 page 2) since 2008. At present the centre incharge is Mrs. Geetanjali Choudhury and the Co-ordinator is Dr. Parijat Chakraborty of the KKHSOU-WGCE study Centre.

At present BPp, B.A and Courses are being imparted.

BBP is a preparatory course and on passing ensures an individual to pursue B.A., B. Com. Courses and on passing ensures an individual to pursue B.A., Course. An individual who has attained 18 years of age, passed or not passed H.S.L.C. must undertake BPP course.

Individual who has passed H.S., or BPP Course are eligible for B.A. or B. Com course.

WGCE is also a centre for D.El.Ed. programme under KKHSOU.

Yoga Club

WGCE students’ take the Pranayam Classes for the community. Art of Uving, a centre for Religion of Pandu keeps a lecture on importance of Yoga, Meditation on life every year. Swamiji interects with due students teacher trainees control the living styles of students from worldly pleasure.


Allumuni Association

An Allumini is formed in the year 2010. The association gives a sort of contribution every year for the welfare and development of the College. A meeting is held every year for innovative steps or procedures in the education scenario of the college.


WGCE has a collaborate with Carrer Cliniq, a national level career advisory non profit NGO working on students and youth empowerment issues 2009 for which every year, there is a workshop held on Soft skils, Communication and Personality Development for the benefit of the students. After completion of the workshop of the three months pro gam within the college campus, interviews are taken by the authority. Certificates are given to the successful students from Directorate of Employment and Craftmanship Training.
